Sue Mackey Andrews: Angus King is a True Leader for Our State

When someone asks me to describe Maine, I tell them we’re like a big family. When someone is in need, we drop everything to make sure that person has food on the table, a roof over their head, and medical care if needed.

Over the years, as a volunteer with Helping Hands with Heart, I have dedicated my time and resources to supporting public health prevention and making sure our neighbors have the resources needed to get back on their feet. And during this time, there has been no public official more supportive of our mission than Senator King. He just gets it.

He has been at the forefront of delivering much needed Congressionally-Directed Spending to projects in rural Maine that are often overlooked. He supported projects like funding for mental health resources for our kids and community spaces so that everyone in our Maine family can get the help they need.

While impressive that Senator King brought home $450 million just last year for 185 projects across the state, what brings me the most joy is his care for our Maine family. Many of these projects are not “ribbon-cutting” projects. There’s no glamour. No photo-opportunity. But these projects are the ones that make a real difference – especially where I live and work in rural Piscataquis County.

This November, please join me in supporting Senator King who will continue to be a true leader for our state – our Maine family. In times like this, it has never been so important.

Sincerely,

Sue Mackey Andrews
