Jon Fitzgerald: Senator King Shows up and Makes a Difference

Senator Angus King has earned my vote in November and I know having him return to the US Senate is good for Maine and the nation. Although we have become accustomed to his common-sense approach to governing in the Senate and during his time as Maine’s Chief Executive, the need for calm and rational dialog has never been greater. In an era where politicians have increasingly embraced their work as some sort of performative art, hoping to create the next viral moment rocketing across social media, Angus has continued to make progress on issues vital to our lives in Maine. Thankfully, his work as Co-Chair of the Senate Broadband Caucus has increased connectivity in the rural areas, improving internet access for Mainers through an appropriation of $272M that will make a big difference in the lives of thousands of Maine citizens as well as the businesses that employ and attract people to the State.

On the Senate Armed Services Committee, he has been a strong supporter of the shipbuilders of Bath Iron Works, ensuring that BIW continues to be one of the primary economic engines of our state as it has been for over 100 years. Whether he is debating issues in the Senate or standing at the BIW gates thanking shipbuilders on the morning after an election, you can count on Senator King to show up and make a difference. Please return the favor and join me in voting for Angus King, US Senate, this November.
